One of the keys to addressing erectile dysfunction is improving the functioning of the endothelium, which is the inner lining of blood vessels. Wayne Hellstrom, MD, urology professor at Tulane University School of Medicine says keeping endothelium healthy can help you improve erectile functioning. Cardio training helps with this, as does resistance training. Adding weight training to cardio training increases muscle mass and bone strength helps your balance and stability (which can help prevent injuries) and can help lower blood pressure as well. Improved muscle definition can also be great for self-esteem, and that can’t hurt.
Erectile Dysfunction is an embarrassing and frustrating condition among many men. There are several reasons behind this. Most of the time, it is caused by certain medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, as well as low testosterone. Other reasons may also include problems in blood flow, psychological issues, nerve damage, as well as hormonal fluctuations.
A variety of personal habits and lifestyle choices have been linked to ED. In some ways, this is a good thing, since habits can be broken and choices reconsidered. What's more, many of the lifestyle factors that contribute to sexual problems are ones that affect overall health and well-being, both physical and mental. Addressing these factors, therefore, can have benefits beyond improving erectile dysfunction.
Did you copy past all that information without research just to get your post count up? WTF! Your mixing the instant Niacin which is the best and the time release niacin which is THE TOXIC version of niacin because some fat ass pussy whiner did not like the flushing. The real Niacin has no significant side effects. If you take to much you feel nauseated and at those levels you are still WAY BELOW what would be considered toxic for your body. Niacin actually makes your erections harder and your penis slightly increases in size. If you are having a hard time getting it up, it's something else. I also strongly advise to take niacin just before bed time as it will lower your stamina. I do not fully understand why it does this. It has something to do with ity regulating the fats in your blood. Niacin is also a sleep aide.
Call this the Marvin Gaye of amino acids: L-arginine converts to nitric oxide (NO), a naturally occuring gas that causes blood vessels to relax and facilitate blood flow, helping you get and stay hard. You can find plenty of the nutrient in oysters, but in supplement form, the Mayo Clinic says that 400-6,000 milligrams is the maximum dose. And these are the best foods for arginine!

A complete sexual behavioral cycle of males involved pre sexual performances, copulation and ultimate ejaculation. Pre sexual behavior comprises physical contact with the female, sniffing and licking of female genital area, licking of their own penis, and few mounts without intromissions. Although all induced females were screened for receptivity, some females showed a mild rejection in the beginning. However, there were no rejections when they were coupled with very active males. All animals which completed the behavioral cycle showed a normal pattern of behavior (not an aberrant sexual behaviour) during the observation period.
Many prostate problems, including cancer, are linked to zinc deficiency, and when the Chicago Center for the Study of Prostatic Diseases gave 50 to 100mg of zinc daily to patients suffering from infection of the prostate, 70 per cent of cases showed improvement. Zinc levels decline with age and men over fifty can fight impotency and prostate enlargement by taking zinc supplements.
Hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) is one of the main risk factors in the development of atherosclerosis, a condition that with the development of statins over the last 20 years has become more treatable, but not without consequences. Statins have been shown to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events by 25–40%, yet this reduction is no big deal, especially considering that many patients need additional therapy to reach more optimal lipid levels and prevent cardiovascular events.
b) Men With Digestive Disorders. There are many, many GI disorders that plague modern, urban dwellers: atrophic gastritis, Crohn's, diverticulitis, enzyme deficiencies, IBS, ulcerative colities and on and on. All of these can lower vitamin and mineral absoprtion. Men struggling with these issues may very well benefit from increased amounts of niacin in the diet or possibly with supplementation.
Stress is another main cause of impotence in men. Psychological stress lowers libido in general and may suppress a man’s ability to become aroused, causing impotence. This is usually temporary and is easier to reverse than cases of physiological impotence. Nonetheless it is extremely important to manage stress levels when working to reverse impotence. Whether a man is experiencing impotence due to physiological reasons or psychological reasons, stress plays a key role. Any man that is experiencing erectile dysfunction will experience higher levels of stress because of the condition itself. Stress management skills need to be in place when working to reverse impotence.
Some people experience symptoms of sexual dysfunction, including ED or loss of interest in sex, when taking medications for depression or anxiety disorders called selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). (9) Yohimbine-containing medications are not intended to treat these symptoms. However, some doctors use yohimbine to offset negative effects of treating mental illnesses. It can also decrease lethargy or low pressure since it acts as a mild stimulant. Additionally it may help to prevent complications in diabetic patients including diabetic neuropathy.
Long considered an aphrodisiac by the Chinese, ginseng may do more than just rev your engine. A 2013 South Korean study found that taking the herb for just a few weeks improved guys’ performance in the bedroom, including helping them last longer before finishing. Meanwhile, a study in Spermatogenesis found that ginseng can also help make for harder, longer-lasting erections and improve testosterone levels, which in turn boosts libido. “Ginseng is a promising herbal therapy for ED because it helps promote relaxation of smooth muscle in the penis, increase dopamine levels in the brain, and increase pressure in the cavernosal nerves of the penis which helps nitric oxide synthesis,” Walker explains.
The herb is particularly effective for those whose willy woes are based on other medications: An older study from the University of California found ginkgo biloba is 76% effective in treating sexual dysfunction caused by antidepressants. “Gingko helps counteract sexual dysfunction caused by certain antidepressants called SSRIs by blocking serotonin activity in the erectile centers of the brain, ultimately leading to better synthesis and bioavailability of nitric oxide,” Walker explains.
Yohimbe is an evergreen tree with large, leathery leaves. It is native to the tropical west coast of Africa, from Nigeria to Gabon. Natives in that region have used the inner bark of Yohimbe to treat angina, hypertension, fever, cough and leprosy. It was also smoked or snuffed to attain an altered state of consciousness. Its main use and rumored “power” was that it was an aphrodisiac. Today science recognizes it as a sensual stimulant, but Native Africans also recognized that drinking Yohimbe tea encouraged sexual arousal. It was traded with Europeans and the tales of Yohimbe’s “powers” spread, giving rise for its increased demand by Europeans.
Some studies suggest that alpha 2-antagonists may help improve patients’ response to antidepressant medications. (5) Yohimbe has a chemical structure that is similar to several medications, and even recreational drugs, that are used to manage conditions like like mood-related disorders such as depression or schizophrenia, low libido, dizziness due to low blood pressure, and others. One such medication is called Reserpine, a type of indole alkaloid that is prescribed as an antipsychotic and antihypertensive drug. Another is lysergic acid (also known as LSD), which has much stronger psychological/psychedelic effects. While yohimbine doesn’t actually have psychedelic effects, according to research findings, it impacts neurotransmitters including dopamine, adrenaline and serotonin. It also seems to help some people suffering from symptoms due to mental illness.
There’s some concern that supplements labeled as yohimbe contain different amounts of the active ingredient than the amount that’s listed. The FDA strictly regulates prescriptions containing yohimbine but not supplements. It can be difficult to determine exactly how much active yohimbine is in supplements due to how different growing and distributing variables affect the concentration. These variables can include: the exact type of yohimbe tree bark that is used, what part of the tree the bark is taken from, the maturity of the tree, how fresh the bark is, the processing techniques used to create supplements, and how the supplements are shipped/exported and stored. (16)
Guay and Spark observed independently (unpublished data) that yohimbine was associated with a very poor response in cigarette smokers. This is believed to be relevant, because studies several decades ago may have included a large percentage of smokers, which only recently has been recognized as a risk factor for erectile dysfunction. We tested this hypothesis by studying nonsmoking men with documented organic impotence and by judging whether any possible effect might be related to adrenal or testicular hormones, which, to our knowledge, has not been studied.
Shape up. ED is often linked with restricted blood flow to the penis. Keep your heart and arteries in good condition by maintaining a healthy weight, and following a diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Avoid saturated fats and trans-fats. Regular aerobic exercise can improve blood flow to the genitals and reduce the stress that can contribute to ED.
Taking one of these tablets will not automatically produce an erection. Sexual stimulation is needed first to cause the release of nitric oxide from your penile nerves. These medications amplify that signal, allowing some men to function normally. Oral erectile dysfunction medications are not aphrodisiacs, will not cause excitement and are not needed in men who get normal erections.

Have you heard about the famous Kegel exercises women often turn to for help? Well, these exercises are not for women only. You can perform them also and get the same beneficial effects as women. Kegel exercises for men are often recommended by many doctors to be used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Kegel exercises will strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. In order to perform these exercises, you will need to locate your pelvic floor muscles (to do that you will need to stop the process of urinating a couple of times) and squeeze them a couple of times. Start performing these exercises a couple of times a day and see the results for yourself.
Men typically have higher zinc needs than women, which can make them more vulnerable to zinc deficiencies. In men, zinc is also needed to support healthy prostate and penile function. Keep in mind that excessive amounts of zinc can be harmful so it is best to follow package directions on the supplement you choose, should you decide to supplement with the mineral.
The art of acupuncture has become the new treatment for everything from back pain, depression, and even ED. Impotence could be more of a state of mind, and acupuncture may help. Through this alternative therapy, fine needles are placed in various parts of the body to relieve pain or stress. Although there are many mixed studies for acupuncture and ED, many tend to confirm positive results. A 1999 study found acupuncture improved the quality of erection and even restored sexual activity in 39 percent of participants.

In the 1700s, pellagra was an endemic disease in northern Italy—which had not been known until maize (corn) was introduced from America. Italy gave the disease the name, “pelle agra” (pelle means skin; agra means rough). Casal had observed that patients with pellagra were all poor, subsisted mainly on maize, and rarely ate fresh meat. Because pellagra outbreaks occurred in regions of Europe where maize was a dominant food crop, the belief was that maize either carried a toxic substance or was a carrier of disease. When it was later noted that there were few pellagra outbreaks in Mesoamerica, where maize is a major food crop (and is processed), it was considered that the causes of pellagra may be due to factors other than toxins.
The men started with a daily dose of 500 mg, to make sure they had no adverse side effects, then increased to 1,000 mg and then 1,500 mg. However, Men's Health warns that according to the US's Baylor College of Medicine urologist Larry Lipschultz, not only do niacin supplements often contain less of what the bottle says, "but ED can also be a precursor to heart disease -- a condition you should treat with your doctor's advice."
ICI therapy often produces a reliable erection, which comes down after 20-30 minutes or with climax. Since the ICI erection is not regulated by your penile nerves, you should not be surprised if the erection lasts after orgasm. The most common side effect of ICI therapy is a prolonged erection. Prolonged erections (>1 hour) can be reversed by a second injection (antidote) in the office.
There have been some studies to suggest that a placebo effect that improves ED may work for some men. One study found that men taking an oral placebo pill showed as much improvement in ED symptoms as men who took actual medication to improve ED. Conversely, men who were given therapeutic suggestions to improve ED did not see signs of symptom improvement.
1. Increased Blood Flow in Men with Lower Niacin Levels. Of course, there is a lot to an erection, but I think just about everyone would agree that the #1 goal is to increase something called endothelial function. The endothelium is the delicate lining of the arteries that pumps out nitric oxide and relaxes the arteries. And, of course, a relaxed, i.e. more open artery is one that allows more blood to flow into your arm, your leg or your brain. And I'm sure I don't need to explain why increased blood flow into your penile arteries is critical for erectile strength.
Few men want to talk about their inability to get or maintain an erection, however, erectile dysfunction can have a profound impact on relationships and self-esteem. Fortunately, trouble in the bedroom doesn't necessarily mean you're dealing with erectile dysfunction. Most men will have problems with an erection at some point in their sexual history. But one bad day in the bedroom doesn't mean major sexual health problems. So how can you know if you're dealing with erectile dysfunction?
A conflicting study of 22 subjects found that a 100mg daily dose of yohimbine for 30 days did not significantly improve penile rigidity. Three subjects experienced a notable increase in penile rigidity and twelve subject experience a partial increase in rigidity. These findings do not completely discount the use of yohimbine to treat erectile dysfunction, but do suggest the compound's effects, even at very high dosages, will cause varying responses across a similar population.
